After breakfast we set off from Thessaloniki and head due west to Meteora.

The name Meteora which means “suspended in space” is a UNESCO World Heritage site in Greece, that is renowned for its surreal landscape of towering rock formations crowned with monasteries.

Perched atop sheer cliffs, these monasteries, built in the 14th century, provide breathtaking views of the Thessaly plains. Meteora is a testament to both nature’s grandeur and human ingenuity.

After admiring the winter sunset over the mountains of Meteora we will continue to Metsovo, for our overnight stay.

Metsovo is one of the most beautiful and picturesque villages of Epirus, It feels as if it belongs to another world at nearly 1,000 meters above sea level.

The town perches on one of the most iconic slopes of the Pindus Mountain range, the ‘crossroads’ of Epirus, Thessaly and Western Macedonia.

Built like an amphitheater, its tile roofs and wooden porches stretch out across the slope, its grand mansions nestled in between beech and fir trees.

The soothing sound of water always on the move adds to the majestic atmosphere. This is an ideal destination for lovers of relaxing mountain holidays.

We continue our journey to the historical city of Ioannina where we will stay for the next two nights. On our way to Ioannina there are many unique locations around Metsovo such as Farma Metsovou, Aoos Lake and the Open-Air Water Power Museum in Mantani.

About Farma Metsovou.
The 180 donkeys reared on site are ready to offer high-quality fresh pasteurized milk, tested by a certified laboratory, which contains all those nutrients that have made donkey milk the most valuable nutritional product in terms of its composition and its characteristics, after mother's milk.

About Mantani.
It is worth driving to the village of Anthochori, which is just 12km from Metsovo, and visiting the Open-Air Water Power Museum that is located in the village. Traditional watermills and fulling mills have been restored after years of being out of service.

About Aoos Lake.
The high altitude of this artificial lake at the source of the Aoos River makes it the only one of its kind in Greece. In the winter the blue water sinks into the white landscape and in the summer it’s draped in the foliage of the dense riparian forest. The beech forest gives way to a forest of firs to the north of the lake, the boundary of the Pindus National Park and the renowned Valia- Kalda. The serene setting is relaxing, an idyllic alpine landscape.

After breakfast we begin our enchanting day in Ioannina at the Byzantine Museum, where you can immerse yourself in the region's rich history for 1-2 hours. Afterward, take a leisurely stroll along the picturesque shores of Lake Pamvotida, soaking in the stunning views and perhaps enjoying a coffee at a lakeside café. Next, we will explore the majestic Castle of Ioannina, where you will wander through its ancient walls and revel in breathtaking panoramic vistas.

Following your castle adventure, embark on a scenic boat ride to the Island of Pamvotis, savoring the tranquil beauty of the lake. Once on the island, delve into the captivating exhibits at the Pavlos Vrellis Greek History Wax Museum, spending 1-1.5 hours discovering pivotal moments in Greek history.

As the sun sets, choose to conclude your memorable day with dinner at around 8:00PM at a charming restaurant overlooking the lake or nestled in the old town, where you can indulge in delicious local Thessalian cuisine.

Overnight in Ioannina.

After a delightful breakfast at our hotel get ready to be enchanted by the beauty of Zagorohoria, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, featuring 46 charming traditional villages. While we can’t visit them all, we’ll explore some of the highlights that showcase the region’s rich culture and stunning landscapes.

Overnight Stay in Thessaloniki.

We begin our adventure after breakfast and check-out, setting off on a captivating Thessaloniki sightseeing tour. You’ll have the opportunity to choose from a variety of engaging activities during the first three hours, including hands-on cooking classes where you can learn to prepare traditional Greek dishes, creative art workshops led by local artists, or a delightful culinary food tour that highlights the city’s rich gastronomic heritage. At 1:00 PM, we’ll pause for a leisurely lunch, allowing you to savor local flavors and recharge for the afternoon ahead.

After lunch, we’ll resume our exploration at 3:00 PM, diving deeper into the historical and cultural treasures of Thessaloniki. Explore iconic landmarks such as the White Tower, the city’s emblem, and the impressive statue of Alexander the Great. You’ll marvel at the striking “Umbrellas of Zogolopoulos” installation and explore the Byzantine Castle, also known as Eptapirgio, which offers stunning panoramic views of the city. Other highlights include the serene Moni Vlatadon monastery, the renowned Agios Dimitrios Church, and the ancient Galerius Arch (Kamara).

As we continue, you’ll visit the Rotonda, famous for its exquisite mosaics, and the beautiful Church of Agia Sofia. Strolling through Aristotelous Square, you’ll experience the vibrant heart of Thessaloniki before exploring the Ancient Roman Forum and the bustling central markets of Modiano and Kapani. Finally, we’ll wrap up our tour at the picturesque Port of Thessaloniki, where you can take in the stunning waterfront views.

At approximately 6:00 PM we will conclude out Epirus tour bringing this unforgettable journey to a close. You will then be transferred to the airport for your departure.
